DROWNING POOL: Paying Tribute To Late Frontman
January 15, 2003DROWNING POOL bassist Stevie Benton recently told Australia's Undercover News that every cent made from the sale of the group's new DVD "Sinema" is going to fulfill late DP singer Dave Williams' dream of buying his parents a house.
"Every penny that is made from this record, none of us, not our manager, will make a dime from it," Benton said. "It all goes to Dave's folks. That was always Dave's one thing. He didn't talk about buying a fancy car or anything. He just always talked about buying his folks a new house. That's all he wanted to do, and unfortunately he died before we had the money to be able to do something like that. Hopefully this DVD will do that."
Stevie believes that Dave would be happy with the DVD. "I think he'd like the DVD," he said. "I think a lot of people think we tried to focus around Dave because Dave died, and that is really not the case. Dave was just a funny guy. There was just so much funny footage of him, we had to stick it on there anyway. The guy was always a good time. He was always doing stupid shit all the time."
Dave's parents have not yet decided where they will move too once enough money is raised for the house. "They live in a small town called Princeton, Texas," Stevie said. "It is kind of out in the middle of nowhere. Dave's mother is originally from [New] Jersey and they have a lot of family there. They have talked about moving there but they haven't decided on a location yet. I saw them just before Christmas and they were heading out to Jersey for the holidays."
